Café Momentum is an award-winning restaurant and culinary training facility. We aim to transform young lives by equipping Pittsburgh’s justice-involved youth with life skills, education and employment opportunities to help them achieve their full potential. In building Café Momentum, our primary goal is to build a sustainable model that provides justice-impacted youth (ages 15-19) with the holistic support they need to TRULY THRIVE.
Named as one of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Best New Restaurants of 2023!
Our restaurant is equal parts dining room and classroom: While our interns are working on providing thoughtful dishes with top-notch service, they’re also learning that they can (and will) rise to whatever level of expectation is set for them. While you’re enjoying the results of their hard work and determination, you’re also sending them a message that you believe in them.
The Café Momentum experience proves that something as simple as breaking bread can change the lives of our community’s justice-involved youth.
At Café Momentum, we believe that workforce development is more than just job training. That’s why we offer our interns a comprehensive 12-month curriculum at our Community Services Center (CSC) located just next door. Our program goes beyond teaching practical skills, as we also provide case management support to our interns in a variety of areas.
We’re actively looking for funders, organizations, private donors, and grants! If you would like to learn more about our program and restaurant in Pittsburgh and how you and your organization can support funding opportunities please email hello@cafemomentumpgh.org.
You can also support us by making a donation or by volunteering with us!
Café Momentum’s Momentum Society was created when community leaders and social entrepreneurs joined forces to Eat. Drink. And Change Lives. With an annual gift of $5,000 or greater, this distinguished group of generous donors exemplifies what collective community leadership can achieve. As a member of the Momentum Society, you have exclusive access to events and dinners that personally connect you to the mission and the lives you are changing – you walk away with a full belly and a full heart.
