Café Momentum Pittsburgh is opening its brick-and-mortar restaurant and launching the full Momentum program in March 2023.
Café Momentum is an award-winning restaurant and culinary training facility. We aim to transform young lives by equipping Pittsburgh’s justice-involved youth with life skills, education and employment opportunities to help them achieve their full potential. In building Café Momentum, our primary goal is to build a sustainable model that provides justice-impacted youth (ages 15-19) with the holistic support they need to TRULY THRIVE.
Our restaurant is equal parts dining room and classroom: While our interns are working on providing thoughtful dishes with top-notch service, they’re also learning that they can (and will) rise to whatever level of expectation is set for them. While you’re enjoying the results of their hard work and determination, you’re also sending them a message that you believe in them.
The Café Momentum experience proves that something as simple as breaking bread can change the lives of our community’s justice-involved youth.
We’re actively looking for funders, organizations, private donors, grants and opportunities to fund Café Momentum in Pittsburgh. At Café Momentum, we believe that workforce development is more than just job training. That’s why we offer our interns a comprehensive 12-month curriculum at our Community Services Center (CSC) located just next door. Our program goes beyond teaching practical skills, as we also provide case management support to our interns in a variety of areas.
Our dedicated case managers work closely with interns to address their individual needs, including education, mental health, life and social skills, financial education, and career exploration. Through this personalized approach, we help our interns develop a strong foundation for success in all aspects of their lives.
After completing our program, our interns are well-equipped to thrive in the workforce and beyond. Thanks to our community partnerships, we are able to place our interns in jobs with reputable companies where they can continue to grow and build their careers.
If you would like to volunteer at the CSC or donate items (supplies, snacks, etc.), please email hello@cafemomentumpgh.org or click the button below.
