Ninny’s Closet

Ninny’s Closet is more than shelves of clothing and supplies—it’s a reflection of the unconditional love that has fueled Café Momentum from the start. Named in honor of our founder’s mother, Cindy “Ninny” Nelson, the closet is open to every Café Momentum intern as a safe place to find what they need to thrive.

Inside, interns discover more than donated goods. They find dignity, care, and the embrace of a community that believes in them. From hygiene items and school supplies to interview attire and children’s essentials, every contribution tells a story of generosity and support.

Cindy was known as “Momma Momentum” to our youth. She believed no one should ever go without the basics—and her spirit of care lives on through Ninny’s Closet in every city we serve.

What’s Inside Ninny’s Closet

Ninny’s Closet is stocked with a mix of core essentials and community-donated items—each playing a vital role in helping our interns feel seen, supported and ready for what’s next.

Essentials

These items are always kept on hand to ensure no intern goes without basics:

• Personal hygiene products (toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant, razors, feminine hygiene and more)
• First aid kits and hygiene kits
• Hairbrushes, combs, and nail care supplies
• School supplies like backpacks, notebooks and pens

Community-Sourced Items

Through drives, in-kind donations, Amazon Wishlists, and corporate partners, Ninny’s Closet is filled with additional essentials that reflect the generosity of our community:

• Clothing and accessories: socks, undergarments, t-shirts, jeans, coats, jackets, shoes and seasonal winter gear
• Baby and children’s supplies: diapers, wipes, clothing, blankets, toiletries, toys and books
• Job interview attire: professional clothing, shoes, belts, handbags and umbrellas
• Household essentials: bedding, towels, luggage, laundry detergent and cleaning supplies

Every item, whether purchased or donated, helps build the foundation for a young person’s success.
